We now have a glimpse of what government will look like in the second Trump administration. With a list of nominees that looks like a cast of villains from the old Batman television show, it is clear that the new administration is determined to make sure government does not work.

We all know in many respects people vote with their emotions as opposed to intellect. James Madison in the Federalist Papers warned that “In all very numerous assemblies, of whatever characters composed, passion never fails to wrest the sceptre from reason.” Given the named nominees thus far with the possible exception of Marco Rubio, one has to assume that rational thinking was in short supply.

As we look at the proposed nominees one question that can be asked to several constituencies is how is it working out for you so far. 

For those in the Muslim and Arab community especially in Michigan how do you feel about the soon to be ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee who doesn’t believe Palestinians exist when he said “ there’s really no such thing as a Palestinian” He also believes Israel should have all of Gaza and the West Bank. When asked about it he said “the title deed was given by God to Abraham and to his heirs.” As you fell for someone who tried to ban Muslims from entering the country was this act which may be considered Shaytan what you really wanted? Was this cut off your nose to spite your face action worth it?

To the majority of white women the question is do you feel protected yet? After all you have a sexual predator in the Oval Office, an alleged sex trafficker Matt Gaetz nominated for attorney general an adulterer Pete Hegseth nominated for Secretary of Defense who has also been accused of sexual assault. He is also against women in combat when he said “it hasn’t made us more effective, it hasn’t made us more lethal, has made fighting more complicated.” Women must be swooning. To top this off you have conspiracy theorist Robert Kennedy Jr. a former heroin addict and another alleged sex abuser as Secretary of Health and Human Services. This is a man who admitted to having his brain eaten by worms and who wants to stop medical research. The kind of research that would protect your children from disease. Even the NY Post thinks he’s nuts. To the ladies are you feeling protected yet? How proud you must be when you tell your daughters that you helped get these people into their positions.

To Latino men do you really think Tom Homan the border czar is not including you, your friends or members of your family in his plans for mass deportation.

While these nominations are not as yet confirmed by the US Senate, Trump is trying to convince them to go into recess so he can get all of his nominations without hearings. This should give people pause about the direction of the nation.

Is this what you all truly desired?  There is an old biblical verse which states “you reap what you sow.” America may soon reap what it has sowed. While it is true that not all people voted for the man who is putting the nation on this path nonetheless the country as a whole will be affected.
